Basic facts about steel rope thimbles Steel rope thimbles Steel rope thimbles are used in different industries for load lifting and pulling. Ends of ropes are pressed with aluminium bushings so that wires remain undmaged. Upon buyers request hand pleated thimbles are made as well. Thimbles can be made of ropes of 1600 or 1800 N/mm2 bear or galvanized wire depending on their purpose and buyers request. Thimbles can be equipped with attachments, such as hooks, additional links, sockets. All thimbles are tested and delivered with attestation certificates. Warning for user It is important to choose thimble appropriate to conditions of work and actual load, so that it can guarantee necessary work safety factor. In out tables you can find permitted loads for safety factors 5-8. Thimbles should be maintained and cared for. Thus, they should be protected from humidity, aggresive materials and high temperatures. Avoid to expose thimbles to sharp and hard edges. Timble cannot be used if there are more then 4 wires broken in 3 lengths of wire, or more than 6 in 6 lengths, or 16 broken wires in 30. It is also unserviceable if one strand is broken or the rope is compressed more them 20% of normal diameter or when worn at the connections. The rope should not be bent close to the connection. Please note that everything mentioned for steel ropes is applicable for thimbles since they are made of steel ropes. |
